Liz is a multimedia journalist studying broadcast journalism at the Media School at Indiana University Bloomington.

She has covered stories of antisemitism, Islamophobia and refugeeism in her work. Her passion is sharing the stories of communities typically underrepresented in the media and furthering pluralism in the industry.

Her work has appeared in ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir, WVPE News & Radio, WFYI Indianapolis Public Radio, Lakeshore Public Radio, WFIU Public Radio, WBAA, WBWB B97 , WHCC Hoosier Country 105, and she has contributed to stories in USA Today.

She is also an investigative reporter on staff at Arnolt Center of Investigative Journalism. For the Arnolt Center, she works alongside professional media partners Gray TV and USA Today to produce national investigative stories. DeSantis is currently participating in a collaboration between IU NewsNet and the Arnolt Center to uncover the rise in sexual assaults that has been occurring on college campuses across the US. This “Red Zone” investigation won a regional Emmy for its coverage of a serious news topic.

In addition to her work as a journalist, she is also a student of Middle Eastern Studies at Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. DeSantis is a member of the Arabic Flagship at Indiana University.

DeSantis spent seven months working as a production assistant and digital news associate at ABC News’ World News Tonight with David Muir.

Before World News Tonight, DeSantis has experience working in various size newsrooms from Artistic Media’s Hoosier Country 105 and Bloomington “B97” radio stations to the more fast-paced environment of a NPR/PBS affiliate, Indiana Public Media WTIU/WFIU. She currently serves as an economy and education beat reporter at Indiana Public Media, where she produces stories for radio, television and digital format.

Recently, she was also inducted into the Sigma Iota Rho Honors Society for excellence in international studies. She has a low advanced working proficiency in Arabic language and a novice working proficiency in Persian language. Studies. DeSantis is a member of the Arabic Flagship at Indiana University.
